Marketed since 2005, the Citroën C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo have experienced great success since sold respectively 620,000, 665,000 and 580,000 copies. A great success that prompted the bulk PSA and Toyota Group to push back the launch of new models.
For this 2012 vintage presented at the Brussels Salon, Citroën has mainly reworked the front, including the grille and bumper, which make the small C1 less plump, but more dynamic. The other novelty is the integration successful, the LED daytime running lights alongside. Finally, a trained eye will also note the presence of 14-inch alloy wheels unpublished.
At Peugeot, the "big mouth" of the current 107 topped with a chrome trim gives way to a more tortured shield is intended as a nod to the highly prospective 208 . The lioness is also gaining LED lights, located above the fog here.
The most significant development finally affects the Toyota Aygo. Do not think that the designers have seen at all the whole city. However, the new work on the grille and on the shields make it visually very close to her older sister Yaris . Here, the LED lights are located at the bottom shields. The end result is in our opinion the most successful.
On board, the triplet receives new upholstery dashboard and doors, which, according to the pictures at least give them a more flattering and more upscale. Manufacturers have also reviewed the design of the steering wheel, which is lined with leather on the robotized gearbox versions, as well as gear manual transmission.
Staffing is also progressing on all three models with the arrival of a new set audio. With 35 Watts, it includes a CD/MP3 player, 4 speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, a multilingual display and a USB port.
Under the hood, we do not change a winning team. The friendly 3-cylinder 1.0 to 68 hp (93 Nm of torque at 3600 r / min), nevertheless has some changes to reduce its consumption. Thus, the third report has been lengthened and tires adopt a low coefficient of rolling resistance. The Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo 4.3 now restyled the claim of unleaded per 100 km and CO 2 set at 99 g / km (€ 100 bonus).
The big news is in Chapter mechanical transmissions. The mini-urban adopt the controversial robotized gearbox (BMP5 or MMT), which far from offering the approval of a torque converter box, can evolve in automatic or manual sequential with paddle shift (!) .
This version consumes 4.5 l/100 km and emits 103 g / km of CO 2, which allows the triplet to benefit also the symbolic € 100 bonus.
Finally, the engineers have made very slight changes to depreciation to improve the overall comfort, and worked more soundproofing to make the Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo less noise in highway driving.
Note that the three companies did not specify whether rates would experience inflation. Info to follow on a Turbo.fr!
